Ladies-

Thank you all for another great Parker County Day at the Capitol. It was a well organized and productive event.

Appreciate your efforts in coordinating everything.

-Sterling, City Adminstrator for Hudson Oaks

When I moved to Parker County after retiring from the military, I didn’t know a single person. I was trying to grow my business in a place that felt completely unfamiliar. And walking into a room where everyone seemed to already know each other? That was intimidating.

In the military, we’re often in silos. We serve, we show up, but we’re not always seen - especially once we take off the uniform. We’re here in the community, but often not known by it. That’s exactly how I felt when I first arrived. So I had to do something.

But I threw myself into a Chamber luncheon - and that changed everything. I was instantly met by a few people who genuinely welcomed me, and then I met Lisa. Her energy is the kind that makes you feel like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. I wasn’t just another person in the room - I was part of it.

The Chamber gave me a place to grow my business, but more than that, it gave me community. It helped me shift from feeling like a stranger to feeling like I belong. And that showed in my business as well. People learned my character and then started to sign up for my coaching and workshops.

So here’s my message to anyone who’s new, or maybe feeling a little unseen: take the initiative. Say yes to that luncheon. Introduce yourself. You might feel like an outsider walking in - but this is the kind of place that can turn into home. It did for me.
